SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill

The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill, or SUNY Cobleskill, is a residential college which lists food and farming among its specialisms. It is situated in the east of New York, 40 miles west of state capital Albany.

Established as the Schoharie State School of Agriculture in 1916 with a single building and just eight students, the college’s main period of expansion took place in the three decades after the Second World War, when student numbers boomed and much of today’s campus was built.

Surrounded by hills, its 902-acre campus features a large dairy farm, a 40,000-gallon fish hatchery, a meat-processing centre, an equestrian facility and various classrooms and recreational spaces. More than half of SUNY Cobleskill students live in college-owned accommodation. It has 10 halls of residence. There are also more than 50 student clubs and sports teams, of which cross country is the most successful in terms of championship titles.

It is divided into three schools: the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the School of Business and the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences, which run more than 50 programmes between them.

Comedian and broadcaster Pete Dominick used to study liberal arts & science at the college, where he performed his first stand-up set and participated in various theatrical activities.
