About Whittier College

Established in 1887, Whittier College is a liberal arts college in Southern California, US. Its name honours the Quaker poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier but the university has been secular since the 1940s.

Whittier College offers 31 majors including child development, kinesiology, political science, communication arts. The student to faculty ratio is 13 to one.

In terms of athletics, there are 22 teams in the NCAA Division III, in sports such as baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and water polo.

Whittier is one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the US.

Notable alumni includes Richard M Nixon, the 37th President of the United States, Adam Pava, television comedy writer, producer, co-creator of Cartoon Network’s “Out of Jimmy’s Head” and Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the American Association of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
