About Webster University

Webster University is a private university with students across the world, in four different continents, though its main base is in western Missouri. It is often considered to be one of the best 25 institutions in the Midwest.

Established by the Sisters of Loretto as Loretto College in 1915, the residential institution was one of the first Catholic women-only colleges in the country. The university separated from the Church in 1967 and was the first Catholic institution to transform into a Lay institution in the United States.
It now has more than 70 sites across the US and abroad, attracting students from more than 150 countries. Its overseas destinations include China, Thailand, Indonesia, Ghana, Greece, Austria and the Netherlands.

The university’s main campus is Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis, the second largest city in the state, and one of the Midwest’s main musical hubs, where Miles Davis and Chuck Berry were born. Tourist attractions include various concert halls, several museums and the Gateway Arch monument, the tallest arch in the world. St. Louis sits on the Mississippi River and the border with Illinois.

Cinematography, film & video production, nursing and business administration figure among Webster’s most popular subjects across its five schools and colleges. It also runs a vast number of online courses which are noted by rankers.

Webster’s list of alumni includes former Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyon, and Jenifer Lewis, a film, television and theatre actor who has had parts Sister Act, The Wedding Ringer and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
