About University of Saint Francis-Fort Wayne
Founded in 1890, the University of St. Francis (USF) is a Catholic affiliated liberal arts university based in Fort Wayne, northeastern Indiana. The city itself is the second largest in the state, and just 18 miles west of the Ohio border.
Academic study at USF spans associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and for undergraduate students there are over 70 academic majors and a wide range of minors available. The Busse Entrepreneurial Program with Integrated Cooperatives (EPIC) programme at the university offers accounting and business administration degrees that contains two years of academic credit based work experience within a standard four year course. The Graduate school offers 12 degree programmes, both on campus and online for adults with a full time job.
The city of Fort Wayne has a wide variety of places to explore, such as the 2,400 seater Embassy Theatre. On campus students may get involved in periodical newspaper Paw Print, take part in one of the many clubs and organisations at USF, or visit one of the five galleries within the School of Creative Arts.
USF is grounded in Franciscan ideals of Faith and Reason, with the John Paul II Centre an administrative hub of the university, and courses offered in Catholic Studies, Franciscan Studies Ministry, and Theology.
Athletics teams at St. Francis are known as the Cougars, and are members of the Crossroads League. There are eight men’s sports programmes and nine women’s, including volleyball and softball. American football games are played at the D’Arcy Stadium, which in 2004 became the first college facility in the state to lay down a SportTurf playing surface.
This institution is not to be confused with the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
