Plateau State University, Bokkos, was established in 2005 and is located in Diram Village, Nigeria, about 70 km from the state capital of Jos. The university specialises in science and art education across its four main faculties for undergraduate students.
Plateau State University has nine faculties: arts, management science, natural science, social science, agricultural science, health science, law, environmental science and postgraduate studies. Across the university’s faculties, students can choose from 17 bachelors degree programmes, from English to theatre arts, history to accountancy, and microbiology to political science.
Students at Plateau State can enjoy a range of activities during their downtime from sports to student union clubs. Football, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, and handball are the most popular sports on offer at the university, and as a member of the Nigerian Universities Games Association Council, students can compete in collegiate sports competitions across Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre helps students to develop their business ideas. Through research and development, education and training, consultancy, business and marketing, procurement, and finance, the centre equips students with the practical entrepreneurial skills to start up their own businesses. Students have started businesses in a range of industries from welding to 3D painting, photography, shoe making and more.
