Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Harrisburg

Penn State Harrisburg is part of the commonwealth campus of Pennsylvania State University, and the main campus is located in Lower Swatara Township.  

Interestingly, the campus is built on the site of the decommissioned Olmsted Air Force Base. There are various facilities for students, which include classrooms, computer labs, a food court, a library and dining area. 

In the past several years, major construction projects on campus have been undertaken to accommodate the thriving university. There was an initial expansion of the Science and Technology Building to complement study in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Pollution Control, while recently there has been the building of a state-of-the-art library, new apartment-style housing and a Town Square for student activities.

Like other campuses within the Penn State commonwealth, students can begin their undergraduate degree at Penn State Behrend and then, after two years of study, transfer to the University Park Campus – the main campus of Pennsylvania State University – to complete their degree.

Some of the most popular courses on offer include: criminal justice, accounting, business, marketing, political science, finance and management. 

The college also has 24 master's degree programs, as well as doctoral programs in adult education, American studies, and public administration.

There are plenty of clubs and organisations for students to get involved with and these include: Astronomy Club, Humanities Club, Cheerleading Club, Boxing Club, Photo Club, Dance Team, Gospel Choir and the International Affairs Association.

Sports teams at Penn State Harrisburg, took a 10-year break from intercollegiate athletics, however started again in 2005. Since, they have become members of the NCAA's Division III. Sports teams include: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
