Keystone College

Keystone College is a small, private college located in northeast Pennsylvania, home to nearly 1,400 students and offering more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a range of study fields.

The institution was founded in 1868 and the first classes were held a year later in a Baptist church in Factoryville, Pennsylvania. In fact, the college did not adopt its current name until 1995 and only began offering master’s courses as recently as 2014.

There are two Keystone College campuses – the main 276-acre campus and a smaller, 170-acre campus known as Woodlands Campus that has around seven miles of hiking trails. The main campus features seven academic buildings and several residence halls, while Scranton, the closest major town, is 25 minutes away and is home to a great selection of cultural and social activities.

The college is around 110 miles from both Philadelphia and New York City, so students are able to experience everything that these two huge American cities have to offer.

Keystone College has 20 varsity sports teams, known as the Giants, all competing in the NCAA Division III. Among the sports offered are tennis, basketball, wrestling, and lacrosse.

Notable former students include children’s author Suzanne Fisher Staples, member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Sandra Major, world-famous former baseball player Christy Mathewson as well as actress Kate Micucci, who has appeared on hit series Scrubs and The Big Bang Theory.
