About Ibn Tofaïl University
Established in 1989, the Université Ibn Tofail (Ibn Tofaïl University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Kénitra, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra.
One of 14 public universities in Morocco established in 1989, Ibn Tofaïl University has 33,263 undergraduate and graduate students, as well as 397 full-time professors.
The university has three faculties: the faculty of sciences, the faculty of literature and humanities sciences and the faculty of law, economics and social sciences. It has two schools: the National School of Business and Management and National School of Applied Sciences.
Ibn Tofaïl University has 47 accredited research laboratories, specialising in environment and health, materials and geo-resources, database processing, business administration, management and marketing and foreign languages.
Students can pick from a selection of clubs which include photography, theatre, calligraphy, ethnology and the arts. Sports clubs on offer at the university include soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, rugby and tennis.
Kenitra (al-Qonayṭéra in Arabic, meaning the little bridge) is a city in northern Morocco, which was formerly known as Port Lyautey. It is a port on the Sbu River, has a population of 431,282 and is one of the three main cities of the Rabat-Sale-Quneitra region.
The capital of the Kenitra Province, Kenitra is a shipping centre for agricultural produce (mainly fruit), fish, timber and lead and zinc ores. The closest major airport to Kenitra is Rabat-Salé Airport and the town itself is a 45 minute drive from Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
