About Hanover College

Hanover College is a liberal arts college founded in 1827 in the town of Hanover, Indiana by Rev. John Finley Crowe of the Presbyterian Church who began teaching classes in a small log cabin. The school grew over the years acquiring brick buildings and a busy campus. In 1947 Hanover began to admit women through its coordinate college but the college did not become fully coeducational until 1978. Although the college leadership is independent of the church, the board of trustees decided to adopt Presbyterian standards of education for Hanover in 1833.

Today Hanover is home to a relatively small number of students studying undergraduate qualifications in a wide range of subjects across the fields of social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and arts and letters. Students also have the option to design their own major by choosing classes from across several programs.

The college’s Business Scholar Program allows students to select a major of their choice to study alongside practical study of business and management; business scholars are expected to complete an internship alongside the coursework of their master’s choice.

The campus covers 650 acres of beautiful wooded land near the banks of the Ohio River. In addition to the academic and administration buildings the campus is home to four dining halls residential halls, a gym and social organisations. The campus is right next to the small town of Madison and 45 minutes from the city of Louisville.
