About German Jordanian University

German Jordanian University is a public university which was founded on 25 April 2005 in accordance with a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Jordan and Germany.

The university, popularly known as GJU, is primarily centered towards facilitating the exchange of young professionals between Europe and the Middle East. The university’s primary vision has been to assist Jordan in producing highly proficient technical graduates through global and regional collaboration.

Located near Madaba Jordan, GJU follows the German approach of industry-centered educational practices and an application-oriented approach to knowledge. As a part of the educational programme, the students are required to spend their fifth year in Germany dedicating 50 per cent time in a partner university and the other 50 per cent working in a related industry.

The university primarily hosts students from Jordan, but in recent years, the number of international students in the university has also been witnessing a significant growth. The university offers more than 20 programmes, and is primarily an undergraduate university.

The university is especially renowned for its comprehensive English and German language programmes, and has forged academic partnerships with universities in the Middle East, Europe, North America and Asia.

The university campus is well-equipped and has all sorts of facilities ranging from sport recreational facilities to special libraries for learning different languages.

The German Jordanian University has a strategic plan of becoming a leading institute of higher education by 2025, and is largely funded by the Government of Germany. The most notable alumni of the university include Maha Ali, the Jordanian minister of Trade and Commerce.
