About Aurora University
Aurora University (AU) is an arts college based in Aurora, Illinois, United States.
AU has its main campus in Aurora, however it also offers programmes online as well as its George Williams College campus in Wisconsin, and the Woodstock Centre in downtown Woodstock in Illinois.
With around 40 different subjects, the university is composed of the following colleges: arts and sciences, education, professional studies and business and communication.
The Aurora campus – which is approximately 32 acres in total – has much to offer students. Buildings situated there include the Alumni Hall, which offers the primary student dining hall, the university banquet hall, the primary gymnasium and athletic offices. Moreover there are university bookstores, administration and classroom spaces, a chapel and a wellness space.
The Higher Learning Commission accredits all Aurora University courses – at bachelor's, master’s and doctoral levels – while other courses, where relevant, are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
There are a plethora of student activities offered on campus, which include: gaming, psychology, fashion, athletics, languages and a renowned book club.
Moreover AU has 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic teams, many of whom choose to participate in intercollegiate sports. All Spartan athletic teams compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with the exception of the men’s lacrosse team, which is part of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.
Notable alumni include Wallace Edgar "Mickey" Johnson, a retired American NBA basketball player, Tom Weisner, an American politician and mayor of Aurora, and Russell "Russ" David Rose, an American author, professor and volleyball coach at Penn State University.
