Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea has been named the most innovative university in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Reuters.
The Asia Pacific Ranking aims to identify and rank the educational insitutions in the region doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and power new markets and industries.
The South Korean university tops this ranking for the third year running. Japan’s University of Tokyo is in second place and Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea rounds out the top three.
The ranking is compiled by investigating patent filings and research paper citations of each university. The full methodology can be found here.
Just three institutions are new entries on this year’s list: the China University of Mining and Technology (56) Shandong University (67) and Xiamen University (74). All three are located in China.
