Zewail City of Science and Technology

Zewail City of Science, Technology and Innovation (ZC) is a non-profit, public higher education institutions and one of the leading institutions of learning, research and innovation in Egypt. Established by the late Nobel laureate Ahmed Zewail in 2012, Zewail City aims to build a scientific renaissance in Egypt and enrich the society with the latest technologies and research that will contribute to solving our strategic challenges. The City’s structure and operation is centered around research-based education, focusing on excellence in education and research, within selected areas of Engineering and Science aligned with local and global industrial and market needs.

Zewail City has its own unique comprehensive structure consisting of three pillars;

• The University of Science and Technology
• Six Research Institutes
• Valley of Science and Technology.

The University of Science and Technology

The university features 3 main schools; Science, Engineering and Computational Science schools, which, between them offer 12 programs, focusing on excellence in education and research. The university has a competitive admissions process ensuring the excellence of our admitted students. The University also offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees through various graduate programs that have a direct link to the research directions pursued by our faculty members in the university and the research institutes.

Research Institutes

With six research institutes featuring 13 research centers and covering diverse disciplines of research; Biomedical Sciences, Nanoscience and Informatics, Imaging and Visualization, Basic Sciences, Energy and Environment, Zewail City has a distinguished record of high research output focusing on innovation and excellence in research.

Valley of Science and Technology

The Valley of Science and Technology in Zewail City is a technology park that will constitute the area of confluence between R&D and the market. The Valley has two primary functions. It will provide gifted graduates and technology entrepreneurs the opportunity to incubate and develop new technologies and industries. Zewail City of Science and Technology will provide some financial assistance and appropriate space on a contractual basis to enhance the level of entrepreneurship and aid in the establishment of new industries.
