About Yuan Ze University
Located in Taoyuan City in northern Taiwan, the private institution Yuan Ze University was established in 1989 through an endowment fund given by Yu-Ziang Hsu, the founder of the Far Eastern Group.
Designated by the Ministry of Education in 2006 as one of 12 first-tier research universities in Taiwan, the university started life as the Yuan-Ze Institution of Technology, but changed its name to Yuan Ze University in 1997 to reflect the increasing number of disciplines available at the institution.
Yuan Ze University has five colleges: the College of Management, the College of Engineering, the College of Social Sciences, the College of Informatics and the College of Humanities.
YZU celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008 and inaugurated it’s "Vision 20" development plan for the university’s future. This plan is designed for the long-term future of YZU, and among the main aims are the establishment of a bilingual university with a full bilingual campus, application-orientated research, the establishment of a sustainable and prestigious campus and the development of international links with other nations.
Yuan Ze University already has agreements in place with a number of universities across the world, including Tsinghua University in Beijing and Kansas University in the US, among others.
The institution's campus is located in northwestern Taiwan, approximately 30km south of the capital city, Taipei, and 12km east of Taoyuan International Airport. For those not in Taiwan, the univerity offers a number of massive open online courses (Moocs)
