About Youngstown State University

Youngstown State University is a public university which was established in 1908. In 1921, the school became known as the Youngstown Institute of Technology and offered its first evening courses. In 1928, a year after establishing the College of Arts and Sciences, the institute changed its name to Youngstown College. In 1955, Youngstown College was renamed as Youngstown University. It became officially known as Youngstown State University in 1967. 

Youngstown State University’s courses are organised into Beeghly College of Education, Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, College of Creative Arts and Communication, College of Graduate Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Honors College and Williamson College of Business Administration. 

Students can participate in varsity sports such as baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and volleyball. 

Some of Youngstown State University’s alumni include fashion designer Nanette Lepore, entrepreneur and philanthropist Milan Puskar and actor Ed O’Neill.
