About Winthrop University
Winthrop University is a liberal arts public university established in 1886 and situated in Rock Hill, South Carolina, US. Initially, the school educated young women in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1969 the first male to received a Winthrop degree.
There are 18 Division I intercollegiate sports teams such as baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
There are many student organisations such as the competitive gaming club, fencing club, swing dancing club and the vegetarian society among others.
The campus is full of buildings designed in neo-Georgian style. It is located 20 minutes from Charlotte, a city with a population of over two million, where there is an active night life and plenty of internship and job opportunities.
