Students have the opportunity to join many athletics teams. WSSU won five Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships in 2015-16 (in volleyball, football, softball, women’s cross country,and women's indoor track), and 20 other competitions since 2010.
The 117-acre campus also houses Diggs Gallery, a well-known African-American gallery in the US. In addition, there are 16 fraternities and sororities and over 100 student organisations.
