About University of Zambia
The University of Zambia is a public university located in Lusaka, the capital and largest city of Zambia. The university was established in 1965 and opened to students the year after.
The university is split across two campuses, one on Great East Road and another, for medical students, at John Mbita Road opposite the university teaching hospital.
The university offers some 157 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes across a range of schools including the school of agricultural sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences, law, mines, medicine, natural sciences, veterinary medicine and the Graduate School of Business. The majority of courses are taught in English.
There is accommodation available for up to 3,200 students at the main campus and a further 442 at the Ridgeway Campus. There is no accommodation for married students or parents, with each room being split between two students.
There are over 50 student organisations for students to join. There is also the East Park Mall, offering shopping, restaurants, gym and entertainment which is a five minute walk from the university campus.
Alumni include three of the country’s past presidents: Hakainde Hichilema, Edgar Lungu and Levy Mwanawasa.
