About The University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business

Established in 1917 as the School of Commerce and Finance, the David Eccles School of Business is located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, Utah. It started awarding graduate degrees in 1933, three years after its accreditation from the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business was achieved. Its MBA course was established in 1955.

There are now over 4,500 students enrolled at the David Eccles School of Business. Undergraduates can choose from nine majors: accounting; business administration; entrepreneurship; finance; information systems; management; marketing; operations and supply chain and quantitative analysis of markets and organisations.

Graduate study programmes are available in: master of accounting; master of business administration (full-time, professional, executive or online); master of science in business analytics; master of science in finance; master of healthcare administration; master of science in information systems; master of science in information systems (online); master of real estate development. Meanwhile, a PhD in business administration is offered in accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, operations management, organisational behavior, and strategic management.

There are a plethora of innovative institutes and centres attached to the school. They include: creative agency AdThing Utah; the Utah Center for Financial Services providing support on regulatory issues; Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative; the Economic Club of Utah which brings together leading economists and business leaders; the Goff Strategic Leadership Center; the Ivory-Boyer Real Estate Center; the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute; the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute; the interdisciplinary Marriner S. Eccles Institute for Economics and Quantitative Analysis; the Sorenson Center for Discovery & Innovation; the Sorenson Impact Center and the Student Investment Fund, a $400,000 portfolio of exchange-listed equities, ETFs, and money market investments.

Located in the foothills of the Wastach Mountains, the school is near to a number of ski resorts and within reach of various national parks. Salt Lake City itself offers nightlife, dining, and a lively art and music scene. The city is also considered a top-ranked business environment and Utah overall has been named as the No. 1 pro-business state by the American Economic Development Institute. Meanwhile, on campus students can benefit from a range of clubs and societies, many with a business theme.
