About University of Colorado Colorado Springs

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is the fastest growing of four campuses belonging to the University of Colorado state system. The system as a whole is responsible for the education of more than 430,000 students.
UCCS was established in 1965 in the grounds of a former sanatorium, bought for $1.
Almost 40 Bachelor’s degrees are on offer at UCCS, along with 20 Master’s and five doctoral programmes. Its engineering, nursing, business and public affairs courses are highly regarded.
UCCS’ six academic divisions are the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the College of Business and Administration, the College of Education, the School of Public Affairs and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Several unique or unusual programmes are on offer at UCCS, including geropsychology (the psychology of older adults), professional golf management and a bachelor of innovation. The latter is a family of majors only offered at UCCS, each sharing a core curriculum on innovative thinking. A broad range of majors can be taken towards a bachelor of innovation, from early childhood education to game design and development.
The spectacular Rocky Mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop the UCCS’ 500-acre campus, located in the foothills of the Austin Bluffs. The Student Life and Leadership department enriches the student experience with regular events on campus, including guest lecturers, concerts, plays, parties and karaoke nights. UCCS’ student theatre produces four plays each year and holds an annual festival of one act plays.
