About Texas A&M International University
Texas A & M International University is a public institution in Laredo, Texas, US, which opened in 1970. Its initial name was Texas A&I University at Laredo.
The university is a regional higher level education institutions and is especially known for its opportunities for minority students. It offers over 70 bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as a PhD programme in International Business Administration.
Its degrees are structured across the A. R. Sanchez School of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and College of Nursing and Health Studies. The A. R. Sanchez School of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which places the programme in a select five per cent of business programmes around the world.
The College of Arts and Sciences provides undergraduate majors in criminal justice, art, biology, communication and Spanish, history, mathematics, music, systems engineering, political sciences, pre-engineering and others.
The 300-acre Texas A & M campus prides The Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium, where both students and the public can enjoy stargazing, shows and field trips with the help of a digital projection and a surround sound system.
In addition, there are over 100 student clubs and societies and sports such as baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, volleyball, cheer leading and dance. Popular events on campus include the Holi Festival of Colors, Chinese New Year and Café Du Monde.
Some distinguished alumni are Esther Buckley, member of the US Commission on Civil Rights, Henry Cuellar, member of the US House of Representatives, Juan Perez, Wisconsin politician.
