About Qingdao University
Qingdao University has a history that dates back to 1909 when Qingdao Specialised Institute of Higher Learning was founded. It was renamed Qingdao Medical Specialised School and in 1946 it merged with National Shandong University to form Qingdao Medical School. In 1993 Qingdao Medical College, Shandong Textile Engineering College, and Qingdao Normal College merged to form Qingdao University.
The university is located in Qingdao, a city in Shadong Province, eastern China.
There are currently 25 faculties and departments within the university, offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. Courses are offered in 11 main subject areas: philosophy, law, economics, natural sciences, literature, engineering, history, management, medicine, education and military sciences.
Throughout the year the university carries out research at its numerous centres and institutes. These include the Materials in Energy and Environment Institute, the Biomedicine Science Institute, and the Qingdao Education Development Institute.
Students are given the opportunity to study abroad as part of the university’s academic exchange programme. To facilitate this programme, the university has developed partnerships with more than 140 higher education institutions in over 20 countries including the US, Australia, France, Germany, Russia and New Zealand.
