About Olivet Nazarene University
Olivet Nazarene University is a private Christian liberal arts college located in the village of Bourbonnais, Illinois. The university is officially affiliated with the evangelical Church of the Nazarene, and as such much of ONU’s teaching philosophy is drawn from the teachings of the Church.
The university has around 120 avenues of study to choose from, covering a wide range of different fields of study. These are arranged across seven schools and a college, based around Theology and Christian Ministry, Music, Life and Health Sciences, Business, Education, and Arts and Sciences. This illustrates ONUs diverse academic portfolio, with almost every major subject area covered.
The university’s athletics team are known as the Tigers. Making use of the university’s extensive athletics facilities, such as tennis courts, a softball arena, basketball court and swimming pool, the Tigers compete in a wide variety of different sports. These include baseball, soccer, golf, track and field, baseball and swimming and diving. These sports are designed to be accessible for all students regardless of experience.
Campus life at ONU draws heavily from the university’s Christian roots. Students at ONU are expected to remain drug and alcohol free while on campus, and single-sex student accommodation is the norm. As well as this, a late curfew is enforced throughout campus. Students commuting from off-campus and living with family members, or those over the age of 22, are not required to live on campus.
Some famous alumni of Olivet Nazarene University include the Chicago Cubs baseball player Ben Zobrist.
