About Lebanon Valley College
Situated in the east Pennsylvania town of Annville, Lebanon Valley is a four year liberal arts institution renowned for small class sizes and currently affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
Although a relatively small college, there are still over forty majors are available to undergraduate students. There is an expanding mathematics department at the college, offering courses such as Actuarial Science, Economics and Physics. Pre-professional courses available are Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Ministry, and Veterinary Science.
There are also five masters programmes offered at Lebanon Valley, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, which carries a near 100% record in job placement rates and pass rates on the Physical Therapy Board Exam.
Varsity teams at Lebanon Valley are named the Flying Dutchman, not for the ghost ship but the area of the state known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The number of sports available to compete in is extensive, with eleven men’s teams such as baseball and American football, and twelve women’s teams such as basketball and volleyball.
Alumni of Lebanon Valley include Pennsylvania governor Tom Corbett, polymer chemist who invented LEXAN (used in CDs and DVDs) Daniel Fox, and professional basketball player Andy Panko. A scholarship programme for law students exists in the memory of Rowland Barnes, an alumni who in 2006 was shot dead while working as a Superior Court Judge.
Founded in 1866, the motto of Lebanon Valley is ‘the truth shall set you free’. Celebrations for the institute’s 150th anniversary included a commissioned piece of music performed at the Blair Music Centre on campus.
