About Lebanese University

Lebanese University is a public university established in 1951, often referred to as the national university of Lebanon.

Located in Hadeeth, in the Baabda district in Lebanon, the university covers 705,000 square metres and hosts students from across the globe, but mainly the Middle East. There are three campuses in total, the Rafic Hariri campus, the Fanar Campus and North Campus.

The university has become a major educational institution in the Middle East. The university also has an affiliation with the Institute of Applied Sciences and Economics (CNAM-ISAE), which operates in cooperation with CNAM in France.

The university also awards honorary doctorates every year to distinguished personalities inside and outside of Lebanon. Some of the top recipients of these honorary doctorates includes Presidents of Iran, Germany and Tunisia and the King of Morocco.

The university has expanded it academic programs to include 16 different faculties ranging from agronomy, economics, business administration, fine arts and architecture, engineering, public health, pharmacy, tourism and hospitality management and letters and human sciences among others. There are 62 libraries across the different faculties equipped with both physical and digital volumes.

The Lebanese University is the leading public institution in Lebanon that represents the nation in the international arena, and ever since its establishment has been producing renowned personalities in all walks of life. Some of the most notable alumni of this university include Michel Suleiman, the 11th President of Lebanon, Marcel Ghanem, a renowned journalist, novelist Charbel Tayah and poet, playwright and professor Jean Daoud.
