About Korea Aerospace University

Korea Aerospace University is the only university in Korea focusing on aviation and aerospace in areas such as spacecraft design, flight operations, air traffic management and logistics. The university also carries out research alongside globally-renowned companies such as Airbus and Boeing.

The university was established in 1952 in Busan with three departments: flight operation, aircraft power, and telecommunication engineering. The university’s name has changed several times since its formation but today’s official name was granted in 2007 changing from Hankuk Aviation University to Korea Aerospace University.

The university offers undergraduate and graduate programmes, as well as flight training, international summer programs, and a Korean language program. Undergraduate programmes are offered across the College of Engineering and College of Aviation and Management, allowing students to become experts in a rapidly growing industry. Courses include air and space law, aeronautical science, business, and information engineering.

There are two graduate schools at the university, the General Graduate School, and the Graduate School of Aviation and Management. The General Graduate School was established in 1979 and offers 10 master’s degree programmes and nine doctoral degree programmes in courses such as English and materials engineering. The Graduate School of Aviation and Management opened in 1995 to prepare specialist professionals for the world of aviation, offering courses such as tourism, airline management and techno-management.

Flight training programmes are also offered to prepare pilots for future careers and produce world class pilots in civil or military industries. The centre has high tech computer simulation training rooms and flight simulators. The international summer programme enables students to learn in a creative environment with students from across the world over a three-week intensive period.
