About Husson University

Husson University is a private, non-profit higher education institution founded in 1898 as a business academy in the city of Bangor, Maine, USA. The university was originally called the Shaw School of Business and the first classes were taught on the upper floors of a downtown building in Bangor. The school was accredited by the State of Maine in 1953, making it a college and allowing it to grant bachelor’s degrees and Husson officially became a university in 2008.

The university has always had a strong reputation for business studies, preparing its students for professional careers in enterprise or as entrepreneurs. There are in the region of 40 areas of study which are split across five different faculties at Husson: the College of Business, the College of Health and Education, the New England School of Communications, the School of Pharmacy and the College of Science and Humanities.

The main university campus covers 208 acres in Bangor, Maine within easy reach of the coast, forests and mountains. The campus is a large picturesque space housing all the main academic and administrative buildings as well as numerous sports and leisure facilities and is only a five minute drive from downtown Bangor. The campus is also home to the Robert E. White Art Gallery and the 500 seat Gracie Theatre which is a centre for the university’s performing arts.
