About Gordon College

Based in Massachusetts, Gordon College is a Christian college with a focus on liberal arts and sciences.

At its roots, the school was founded by Adoniram Judson Gordon as a Boston Missionary Training Institute to train Christian missionaries for work in what was then the Belgian Congo.

Gordon College offers some 40 bachelor degrees, as well as graduate programs in education and music education. Subjects include: Biblical studies, art, international affairs, finance, physics, economics, and theatre studies. 

Gordon College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, while the music programme is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the social work programme is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Gordon is a member of the Annapolis Group and of the Christian College Consortium. It is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Known athletically as the Fighting Scots, Gordon College's sports teams compete in the NCAA Division III – primarily in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Teams include: baseball, basketball, cross-country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.

There are a wide variety of clubs and organisations available for students to join, and include a Beekeeping Club, Badminton Club, Biology Club, Ice Hockey Team, Mock Trial Club, Rowing Club, and Swing Dance Club.

Notable alumni include James Davison Hunter, an American sociologist who is a distinguished Professor of Religion, Culture, and Social Theory at the University of Virginia, Peter Benedict "Pete" Holmes, an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, podcaster, television host, and cartoonist, and Ray Fowler, an American author and UFO researcher.
