About Franklin Pierce University
Franklin Pierce University is a regionally accredited university in rural New Hampshire. With roots dating back to 1962, it was founded as Franklin Pierce College, combining a liberal arts foundation with preparation for the professional world.
The school gained university status in 2007 and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Overlooking Pearly Pond, the campus is just a few miles from Mount Monadnock, covering some 1,200 acres.
There are a variety of subjects available for students to study, which include: arts, science, business administration, education, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies.
The university also operates The College of Graduate and Professional Studies, which has a variety of campuses in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Lebanon in New Hampshire, as well as Goodyear in Arizona.
Sports teams at Franklin Pierce compete at the NCAA Division II level as well as competing in the Northeast-10 Conference. There are 23 sports teams, which include: baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, field hockey, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The university has its own media group called The Pierce Media Group (PMG), which all students can easily participate in – even if they have no experience in marketing, advertising, production, or journalism. The Pierce Arrow is the student newspaper and oldest student group on campus. There is also a TV and radio station.
Notable alumni include Mary Temple Grandin, an American professor of animal science at Colorado State University and a world-renowned autism spokesperson, Henry Oswald Simmons, Jr., is an American actor, Pauliina Miettinen, a Finnish football coach and former player.
