About Federico Santa María Technical University
Federico Santa Maria Technical University is a public research university located in the city of Valparaiso, Chile. The university was founded in 1926 and named in honour of its founder and benefactor, Federico Santa Maria Carrera. Carrera was a businessman and philanthropist.
The institution is one of the top engineering schools in Chile and is particularly known for its programmes in mining, metallurgy, naval architecture, and civil engineering. It is the only Chilean engineering school where sport is an obligatory course.
The university has four campuses. The main campus is in Valparaiso and there are three satellite campuses in Concepcion, Santiago, and Antofagasta.
There are a range of extracurricular activities such as the student radio station and the chamber choir which students can get involved with.
