About Egerton University
Egerton University is the oldest university in Kenya having been in 1939. It was founded as Egerton Farm College.
It became part of the University of Kenya in 1986 and a university in its own right in 1987.
The university is based across four campuses in Njoro, 70 miles from Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The main Njoro campus hosts the faculties of agriculture, arts and social sciences, education and community studies, engineering and technology, environment and resources and science and veterinary medicine.
The nearby Kenyatta campus has the Centre for Capacity Building and is planned to accommodate the school of Open and Distance Learning.
Nakuru Campus hosts law, commerce and health sciences while courses in commerce and arts and sciences are taught at the Nairobi campus. The university runs distance courses in collaboration with Africa Virtual University.
