About Duy Tan University

Located in the coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam, Duy Tan University is a private institution founded in 1994. It takes its name from Vietnam’s early 20th century "Modernisation Movement". Da Nang is the fifth largest city in Vietnam.

With the motto "Vietnamese Spirit, Creativity, Innovation, Reaching for New Heights" it declares a mission to "focus on the education and research of various sciences and technologies in order to produce dynamic, creative, healthy graduates who love their country, possess humanitarian Vietnamese values, a sense of community, self-confidence and a broad range of capabilities and skills, to become Citizens of the World".

It has offered postgraduate qualifications since 2009.

The university is located on six campuses, the largest being in Da Nang’s Lien Chieu district which was opened in 2011. It places a strong emphasis on international connections under the slogan "partnering with giants" and offers a number of double-degree courses. These include a partnership over the last three years with Purdue University in the USA and another in the last year with Coventry University in the UK.

Duy Tan University is ranked sixth among Vietnamese institutions in the Nature Index for 2018-9 and seventh in an analysis of Vietnamese publications in international social science journals covering the years 2008 to 2018. The Institute for Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is among its best known research centres.

Innovations devised by students in recent years have included a 6ft3in robot on a wheeled platform which helped people cross the road and, in 2016, Vietnam’s first condom dispenser.
