About Dominican College
Set up in 1952, Dominican College of Blauvelt is a highly respected private liberal arts college situation in the Rockland County area, only 17 miles north of New York City. Between 2010 and 2015, the college was also called a College of Distinction for its students’ level of engagement, quality of teaching, campus communities and successful outcomes.
It offers over 30 nationally accredited degrees, including undergraduate majors such as accounting, athletic training, biology, communication studies, computer information systems, criminal justice, English, history, humanities, management, mathematics, nursing, occupational therapy, philosophy, psychology, religion, social sciences, social work, Spanish, teacher education.
Student athletes compete in NCAA Division II. The College registers some good results in the region amongst small schools. Students can choose to take part in athletics, golf, lacrosse, soccer, cross-country, track & field, volleyball, basketball and baseball.
Beyond sports, students can benefit from the array of student clubs and organisations including the Anime & Gaming Club, Aquin Players (Drama society), Biology Club, Caribbean Dance Crew, Cheerleading Club, Criminal Justice Club, DC Chefs, DC Chorus, Debating Society, Habitat for Humanity, Latin Dance Team, Psychology Club, Love Your Melon (giving hat or beanie to children battling cancer), Radio DC, Student Nursing Association, Social Work Club and Verbal Asylum (performing poetry).
