About Belhaven University

Belhaven University is an arts university based in Jackson, Mississippi. It was founded by Lewis Fitzhugh and then later donated to the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Since, Belhaven has been independently run by a Board of Trustees. 

Belhaven is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and offers approximately 30 Bachelor's Degrees and eight Master's Degrees are offered. In addition to traditional majors, programmes such as Christian Ministry, medicine, dentistry, law, and nursing are also on offer. 

Belhaven maintains satellite campuses in Atlanta, Houston, Memphis and Orlando, and also conducts a number of online programmes.

Where relevant, Belhaven University is nationally accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the National Association of Schools of Music, the National Association of Schools of Dance and the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

The most popular degrees among graduates are: visual and performing arts, business, management, marketing, and related support services, health and physical education, education and psychology. 

Sports at Belhaven are a strong point, and the university is a member of NCAA Division III, primarily competing in the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, track & field, and tennis; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, track and field, tennis and volleyball.

Notable alumni include Joel Bomgar, founder of Bomgar, John Brady, former head basketball coach and current head coach of Arkansas State University, and Tramaine Brock, current NFL cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers.
