About Federal University of Technology Akure
The Federal University of Technology Akure is located in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State in Nigeria.
The university was founded in 1981 by the government of Nigeria in a bid to encourage more graduates with both a theoretical knowledge of technologies as well as a practical knowledge of how to apply them to real world scenarios.
There are 10 schools at the university including life science, physical science, earth and mineral sciences, environmental technology, engineering and engineering technology, agricultural and agricultural technology, logistics and innovation technology, computing, postgraduate studies and the college of health sciences. Each school offers pre-degree science programmes, shorter courses and university advanced basic science programmes.
Alumni include Ndubuisi Ekekwe, a Nigerian professor, inventor, engineer, author and entrepreneur, and the brains behind a special method of controlling the dexterity of medical robots used for invasive surgeries. Another alumni is Opeyemi Gbenga Kayode, a Nigerian singer and songwriter better known by his stage name Pepenazi.
