About Université Paris-Saclay
Université Paris-Saclay has a history that dates back to 1150 when the University of Paris was established. In 1971 a branch of the university in Orsay was renamed the University of Paris-Sud. In 2019 it became the Université Paris Saclay.
The university is part of the Paris-Saclay project, which brings together nine higher education institutions and a business cluster to a research-intensive academic campus. The campus is being developed on the Plateau de Saclay on the outskirts of the city. This model is similar to the one adopted by the University of Oxford and Cambridge in the UK, where each college keeps its independence whilst remaining part of the university
The university is located in the south of Paris, the capital of France.
The university offers a range of undergraduate, masters and PhD degree programmes. These programmes are in the fields of science and engineering, life and health sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
Research is an important part of the university’s activity. The university carries out this research at its 275 laboratories that it shares with various institutes and companies. These include the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission and the French National Centre for Scientific Research.
