About Saint John's University
Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, is a liberal arts college set in 2,700 acres that include lakes, wetlands, an oak savanna, and a hiking trail.
The institution was founded by the monks of Saint John's Abbey in the 1850s. It offers a range of undergraduate courses, and also has a graduate school that confers Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees and also prepares seminarians for the priesthood.
The Arts buildings at the institution date back to the 1860s and are arranged in a series of quadrangles and courtyards. The Abbey Church, one of 10 campus buildings designed by Marcel Breuer, sits at the centre of the campus.
Notable St Johns alumni include Edward Devitt, a former US Congressman and District Court Judge; David Durenberger, a former US Senator; movie directer Stephen Sommers; and the author and poet Yuko Taniguchi.
