About Texas Lutheran University

Texas Lutheran University was founded in 1891 in Seguin, Texas, US, near San Antonio and Austin.

It offers a wide range of academic majors. Arts programmes include art, arts for social change, business of the arts, music and entertainment studies; business classes range from the traditional accounting, finance, management and marketing to business of science, business of the arts and media organisation management; in communications, students can choose to do classical languages, cultural studies, journalism, literature, Spanish, French, English, Hebrew or Greek studies; in terms of health sciences, students can major in athletic training, biology, nursing, kinesiology, sport and fitness management and others; of the humanities, students can choose to pursue African-American studies, classical languages, geography, history, ministry, business methods for historians, philosophy and theology; natural sciences range from aeronautical science to biochemistry, computer science, molecular biology and statistics; social sciences include psychology, sociology, international politics, pre-law and other subjects.

On average, there are 20 students in a class, which will allow students to both pursue their own individual interests as well as to feel a part of a strong community.

Beyond academia, students can join campus ministries and religious organisations (Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Catholic Student Association), academic clubs (Geography Club, Philosophy Club), fitness clubs (dodgeball, basketball, kickball, zumba), Greek societies, and music and theatre organisations (jazz band, orchestra).

Intercollegiate athletics include basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball, football.

A few notable alumni are South Korean Lee Eun-chul, who won an Olympic Gold Medal in 50 metre rifle and participated in five Olympic Games and Laurie Corbelli, a Silver Medal Olympic winner as part of the US Olympic Volleyball Team, and a head coach at Texas A&M Aggies women’s volleyball team.
