About Holy Family University

Holy Family University is a Roman Catholic higher education institution in the city of Philadelphia, USA. The university was founded in 1954 by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The university grew out of a teacher training school originally opened in 1934. Full university accreditation was granted in 1961 and the university’s graduate program was approved by the state’s department of education in 1990. The doctoral program gained approval in 2010 and since then numbers of graduate students at the university have grown steadily.

Today Holy Family University offers students a range of liberal arts and professional programs to prepare them for the working world or further study. The university caters to a few thousand graduate and undergraduate students. Studies are divided across the university’s four schools, they are: The School of Arts and Sciences, The School of Business Administration and Extended Learning, The School of Education, The School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

The university campus in Philadelphia is the home of the undergraduate program but also offers part of the university’s graduate school as well, this is also where the residential facilities for undergraduate students are located. The campus is spacious with a park-like atmosphere while being within easy reach of all the amenities offered by a major American city. The university has two other campuses, Bensalem and Newtown, which house the graduate programs in Counselling Psychology.
