About D'Youville College

Situated on the west side of Buffalo, NY and founded in 1908 by the University of the State of New York, D'Youville College is named after the Patron Saint Marguerite d’Youville.

A women’s college until the 1970s, its notable historic markers include starting the region’s first four-year undergraduate nursing program in 1942 and being the first college in the area to offer baccalaureate degree programmes for women. The journey from college to university started in 2007.

It offers its 3,000 students more than 50 majors in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies, including advanced certificates and accelerated learning programs. Degree disciplines range across healthcare, business, and the liberal arts with schools established in arts, science and education, health professions, nursing and pharmacy.

There are a wide range of student resources available at D’Youville, among them are a Student Solutions Centre and Student Success Centre – covering a range of issues from the financial to the academic and beyond into careers.

Aside from a network of 35 student clubs and participation in ventures such as a Model UN, D'Youville encourages a balance between academic and extracurricular activities by integrating community service with coursework. There are a multitude of options for volunteering across care for the elderly, working on housing projects and street clean-ups.

Notable alumni include: chemist Edith M. Flanigen, NY State senator Timothy M. Kennedy and Ann Wood-Kelly, the first and youngest female aviator during the Second World War.
