About Indiana University-Kokomo
Indiana University Kokomo (IUK) is one of the smaller institutions in the public Indiana University system and serves more than 4,000 students in north central Indiana.
The university was established in 1945 as an extension of Indiana University and moved to its current location on South Washington Street in downtown Kokomo in 1965.
Over the years more buildings and departments have been added and the university now offers more than 60 degrees in six main academic schools.
IUK offers several international travel courses and each year groups of students travel to destinations including Italy, Guatemala, Poland and South Korea to pursue their studies. The university also offers several study abroad options, allowing students to spend either a semester or a year studying in universities all over the world.
The 51-acre IUK campus is home to the Havens Auditorium, which hosts concerts, lectures and shows throughout the year, as well as an art gallery and observatory.
There are 35 clubs and organisations on-campus too, offering a range of opportunities to help students build upon their academic skills.
There are seven varsity teams at IUK, known as the Cougars. They compete in the Association of Intercollegiate Institutions at sports including volleyball (women only), basketball, cross-country and golf. Cheerleading was recently introduced as a club sport at IUK too, and the Cole Fitness Center provides students with a range of top-class sports facilities to train and practice.
