About Kansai University

Kansai University dates back to 1886 when it was founded as Kansai Law School in November 1886. In 1905 the institution was renamed as Private Kansai University, then in 1920 as Kansai University before, finally in 1922, being granted the official status of a university.

It was then that its main campus was moved to its current site in Suita, a suburb of Osaka in Japan. Today, the campus includes 50 buildings and sculpture gardens, fountains, museums, student dormitories and a mix of architectural styles.

Kansai University offers a variety of courses across many different areas: law, letters, economics, business and commerce, sociology, policy studies, foreign language studies, health and wellbeing, informatics, societal safety sciences, engineering science, environmental and urban engineering, and chemistry, materials, and bioengineering. Students can also study for masters degrees and PhD’s.

On campus, students will find The Career Centre, which provides students everything they need to progress and succeed within their chosen profession. It offers seminars related to career design, learning practical skills and knowledge, internship programmes to on-job-training in enterprises, and other programmes. There are also research seminars in which more than 1,400 companies are invited on a yearly basis.

There are sports facilities on campus including an ice rink, gymnasium, judo, kendo, and kyudo fields and athletic grounds.

In addition, students can get involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities such as: tea ceremony, calligraphy, and orchestra which are all part of the Cultural Association.

Kansai University also has partnerships with other universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad.
