The University of Mary Hardin–Baylor (UMHB) is a Christian university based in Texas, and was founded by the Republic of Texas in 1845 as Baylor Female College.

It became a fully-fledged university in 1978, and now offers degrees at bachelor, masters and doctorate levels.

Athletically, the university has won two national championships and 41 conference championships throughout its history.

Notable alumni include Buddy Groom, a former Major League Baseball pitcher between 1992 and 2005, and Miriam 'Ma' Ferguson, Texas' first female governor and the second woman to be elected governor of any state in the US. George W. Bush, was also given an honorary PhD in Humanities in 2015.
