About Van Yüzüncü Yil University
Van Yüzüncü Yil University was founded in 1982 and is located in the city of Van, southeastern Turkey.
The university is organised into 19 faculties. These include the faculty of pharmacy, faculty of science and the faculty of economics and administrative sciences among others. Each faculty is divided into a number of departments offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
The university is also home to five institutes: Institute of Educational Science, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, Institute of Health Sciences, Institute of Social Sciences, and the Institute of Living Languages.
There are three colleges based at the university: school of physical education and sports, Turkish music state conservatory, and the school of foreign languages, as well as 10 vocational schools.
Research is an important part of the university’s activity and is carried out at the university’s research centres. These include the Environmental Problem Research Centre, Computer Science Research and Application Centre, and the Women’s Issues Research and Application Centre.
The Department of Student Affairs was established in 1982. The department organises a number of arts, cultural and sports events throughout the academic year for students to enjoy outside of their studies.
