About The University of Agriculture, Peshawar
The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, was established in 1981 and has played an important role in providing agricultural education and conducting applied agricultural research throughout the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As one of the leading universities in the country, the University of Agriculture sends its research findings among farmers and the general public through outreach and public service activities.
The university is situated in Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. With a population exceeding 2.3 million, Peshawar ranks as the sixth largest city in Pakistan. Peshawar boasts a rich history dating back to at least 539 BCE, making it one of the oldest cities in South Asia.
Academically, the university includes six faculties: nutrition sciences, crop production sciences, animal husbandry and veterinary sciences, crop protection sciences, rural social sciences, and management and computer sciences. Each faculty houses various departments offering a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Additionally, there are two institutes: the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, and the Institute of Development Studies. The university's research efforts throughout the year are published in two primary scientific journals: the Sarhad Journal of Agriculture and the Al-Azhar Journal.
