About Lille 1 University – Science and Technology
Lille 1 University was a state university and had about 20,000 students, 1,600 researchers, professors and associate professors and 1,300 BIATOSS (library staff, engineers, administrative, technical, social and health). Situated in the North of France within a distance of 300km from five European countries, Lille 1 was a centre for science and technology, economics and management, at a national as well as international level. Lille 1 had been selected as one of the top 12 French campuses that benefited from extra funding from the French state as part of the project of federating other universities of Lille in order to promote a large scale campus of international visibility.
Until 2016 Lille 1 University Science and Technology was ranked as a separate institution by THE in the World University Rankings. Since the 2017 World University Rankings, the University of Lille (which includes Lille 1 University Science and Technology, Lille 2 University Health and Law and Lille 3 University Charles de Gaulle) has been ranked instead.
