About Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos
Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos was established in 1953 in Morelos’s capital city, Cuernavaca, in Mexico. The university has its origins with the Literary and Scientific Institute of Morelos in 1871, founded by governor, Francisco Leyva.
The university offers three different course levels. Middle superior courses are three-year courses that allow students to gain skills to prepare them for professional training, including laboratory technician, IT and English technician, forestry technicians and more. The upper superior level offers 65 undergraduate degree courses focusing on the sciences, humanities and arts.
There are six main faculties offering undergraduate courses: agricultural sciences, natural sciences, exact sciences and engineering, social and administrative sciences, health and behavioural sciences, education and humanities. Across these faculties students can choose degrees including nutrition, psychology, teaching, history, law, accountancy, chemical engineering, biology and many more.
The university also offers postgraduate level courses at both master's or doctorate level. There are 55 postgraduate study courses across the six main faculties, including editorial production, molecular medicine, energy sustainability and human resources management. Students can access courses in several different languages including English, French, German, Japanese, and Portuguese.
Students at the university can participate in a range of activities alongside their studies including sports such as archery, judo, crossfit, rugby and tennis, making use of the gymnasiums, archery range and several sports units. There are also a range of artistic activities on offer from oil painting to poetry, belly dancing and ceramics.
Cuernavaca is Morelos’ largest city and capital, located south of Mexico City. Its historical centre is filled with colonial architecture and parks. Downtown Cuernavaca has the famous Cortés Palace that houses the Museum of Cuauhnahuac, there’s also the Government Palace and several vast gardens.
