About St Francis Xavier University
St. Francis Xavier University was founded in 1853 and is located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in Canada.
The university has a close-knit residence environment with a wide range of academic programmes from the arts to business, to science and education.
The university attracts a high international student population. St. Francis Xavier was the first university in Canada to have a formal Service Learning programme, the Coady International Institute, where students can find leadership development opportunities.
There are five main undergraduate faculties at the university: arts, business, education, science, arts and science, as well as other programmes which include a co-op education programme, and a continuing and distance education programme. Undergraduate students can choose from a variety of courses including social justice, human nutrition, physics, finance, and sport management.
Co-op students gain advanced training in their desired career before they graduate, gaining valuable industry insights and building a network of professionals. Co-op students will complete a year or more of paid, professional work experience that equates to three credits towards their degree.
The university also offers graduate studies. There are five different postgraduate pathways at St.Francis Xavier, including: master of adult education, master of arts, master of education, master of science, and a PhD in educational studies.
