About Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences
Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences is located in Sari, Iran was established in 1986, but has its roots in the Sari Higher School of Midwifery in 1975. Sari itself is located at the foot of the Alborz mountains and South of the Caspian Sea, and is the biggest city in the Mazandaran Province.
There are 10 faculties in total: allied medical sciences, advanced technologies in medicine, dentistry, healthcare, medicine, two nursing and midwifery schools, paramedical sciences, and pharmacy. In addition to their vast array of faculties, the university also has three main institutes which carry out research to help the local and wider communities: the Hemoglobinopathy Institute, Addiction Institute, and the Non-Communicable Disease Institute.
Of the 40 hospitals in Mazandaran, 25 are affiliated with Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences including Imam Khomeini, Zare, and Fayemeh Zahra hospitals. This allows medical students a breadth of opportunities to develop their practical skills and enhance their skillset whilst building links with medical professionals in the local area.
