About Larbi Tebessi University
Larbi Tebessi University, located in Tebessa, Algeria, was founded as a university in 2009. Its establishment followed years of effort by the university community, starting in 1985 when it was created as the National Institutes of Higher Education, specialising in earth sciences, civil engineering and mining.
The university's development continued in 1992, when it became Sheikh Larbi Tebessi University Center, named after a renowned scholar and native of Tebessa. In 2006, the institution underwent a restructuring of administrative services, institutes and departments.
It was officially promoted to the rank of university by the president of the Republic, during the opening ceremony of the 2008-09 academic year.
Larbi Tebessi University offers a diverse range of academic programmes across six faculties: literature and languages, science and technology, exact sciences and natural and life sciences, law and political sciences, human and social sciences, economic sciences, business sciences, and management sciences.
Additionally, students can pursue specialised studies in two institute: the mining institute and the institute of sciences and technics for sport and physical activities.
Larbi Tebessi University welcomes students from around the world. The university provides support to international students throughout their studies, ensuring comfortable conditions and facilitating their registration procedures.
The university's Directorate of University Social Services takes care of accommodation, feeding, transport and other essential services for foreign students. Additionally, the university offers various platforms for managing and monitoring international students, alongside important links to resources and organisations related to higher education and research.
There are diverse range of scientific and cultural clubs for students to participate in. The clubs include "Sanhouri" for law and political science, "Abu Khalwa Jamal" for exact sciences and natural and life sciences, "Hassan Fathi" for arts and architecture, "Al-Khwarizmi" for science and technology, "Al Biruni mines", "Abu Nasr Muhammad Al-Frabi" for social sciences and humanities, "Malik Bin Nabi" for literature and languages, as well as clubs dedicated to painting and fine arts, and audiovisual activities.
